The House of Music is close to goal
 
At a press conference 21. October the final scheme design for the House of Music at Aalborg ‘s waterfront was presented to the public and the press in the Utzon Center.

A significant change is the replacement of the large entrance steps towards the Limfjord by an entry on the ground floor of the House of Music. This among other things makes it easier to use by disabled people. Something new is that the restaurant and cafeteria are located in a separate part of the building, which gives the visitors a great view to the Limfjord.

"The architecture of the house has not been static, but very much a dynamic process," says managing director and head of design Wolf D. Prix from the Austrian architecture firm COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, which has developed the 20.000 square metres of the House of Music in collaboration with the “Fonden Musikkens Hus” in North Jutland.  The mayor of Aalborg, Henning G. Jensen, warmly welcomed the changes, as did the alderman Henrik Thomsen of Aalborg Local

Authority.

The next step of the process is getting a detailed project to be used for the invitation to submit tenders for the construction. The construction is expected to begin in the late summer 2010.

"I hope that I will not be here again until the first turf or the construction has been cut.  No more talk, now we want to start building,” the Director of Realdania, Hans Peter Svendler, emphasizes. The House of Music is scheduled to be finished at the turn of 2012/2013.
