Richard Weston: Formations

Formations: images from rocks reveals the extraordinary richness of structure, pattern and colour that lies just out of sight in minerals and stones. Digitally scanned, massively enlarged – up to 4.8x2.4 metres – and printed on silk, the images take on a life of their own. Some bear a striking resemblance to familiar landscapes; others suggest mysterious parallel worlds of purple streams, brilliant red shores and exotic underwater life; and all hint at what the physicist David Bohm calls the ‘implicate order’ that pervades nature at every scale.
