ARC DE VIE
Exhibition about the architects Jacob Blegvad and Claus Bonderup
and the artist Anne Just
Jacob Blegvad and Claus Bonderup, Architecture/Design, and Anne Just's paintings (Haven in Hune), staged by artist/architect Marco Evaristti.
With a dedicated focus on three of North Jutland's strong creative forces, Utzon Center asked the artist and architect Marco Evaristti to engage in creative dialogue with the works of Jacob Blegvad, Claus Bonderup and Anne Just. The result is a unique and fascinating exhibition which opens on 4 February, 2011. Mezzosopranist Tessa Ranke will provide a musical performance instructed by Evaristti.
How do you tell a story about three people, all passionate, gifted, talented and expressive, independent of each other, and yet with lifelong connections to one another? Each of these artists could provide enough material for an exhibition in and of itself – and Utzon Center just might do this someday. But this time these three strong individuals' narratives have been subjected to yet another personality – Evaristti's – who has directed his gaze and thoughts upon them and in the process, developed this eventful and unusual story. Evaristti has not fallen into the trap of attempting to fit these works into a pre-constructed narrative, but rather, highlights each work as individual while lending to the narrative space of the pieces.
It has just been essential for Evaristti creating a different kind of exhibition. "I've been to lots of architecture exhibitions - and I have been bored every time. This does not look like any of them, he promises. "What I have experienced has always been deeply impersonal to the visitor."
So among the recognizable elements such as models and drawings, a series of surprises will "pop up", creating an unprecedented and unpredictable context. The works are living objects, full of life and a desire to tell and delight. Evaristti's staging serves to underline this, and make the exhibition experience a personal one for the visitor.
The exhibition can be seen from Saturday 5. February - Sunday 10. April 2011
